Brainstorming Research Ideas in Legal Studies

As part of its ‘Indigenizing Policy Research in Pakistan’ initiative, IPS LEAD – the learning, excellence and development program of Institute of Policy Studies – has launched a series of seminars for PhD, MPhil/MS and LLM students and their research supervisors to sensitize and facilitate them towards generating policy-oriented and useful research for Pakistan and the global community.

‘Brainstorming Research Ideas in Legal Studies’ was the second seminar in this series in which the participating young researchers had ample opportunity to discuss, in different groups, their research proposals on various issues and aspects of law with senior scholars and practitioners in the field.

The session, which was held on December 16, 2016, was addressed by Ahmer Bilal Soofi, advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan and former federal law minister and president, Research Society of International Law (RSIL), Prof. Dr. Shehzad Iqbal Shaam, former faculty of Shari’ah and Law, International Islamic University (IIUI), Shari’ah Academy, IIUI and current head of department of Islamic Studies, University of Gujrat, Dr. Salahuddin Mengal, chairman, Press Council of Pakistan, Justice Muhammad Raza Khan, former chief justice, Peshawar High Court and member, Council of Islamic Ideology, Pakistan and Prof. Ahmad Ali Khan, former head, Department of Law, Bahria University, Islamabad.

The event was facilitated as resource persons by Dr. Nadia Khadim, assistant professor, Bahria University, Islamabad, Sami ur Rahman, senior lecturer, Bahria University, Islamabad, Dr. Ijaz Ali Chishti, head, Department of Law, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, Islamabad, Saadia Zahoor, lecturer, Bahria University, Islamabad, Ghazala Ghalib, assistant professor, IIUI, Sehrish Saba, advocate High Court , and Asma Mushtaq, advocate High Court and IPS associate.
