Maulana Raghib Naeemi (Chairman, Council of Islamic Ideology (CII))
Dr. Allama Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi is a distinguished Pakistani Islamic scholar and academician currently serving as the Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), following his official reappointment to a three-year term. A recipient of the prestigious civilian honor Sitara-i-Imtiaz, he also leads the historic Jamia Naeemia Lahore as its Principal, chairs the Muttahida Ulema Board Punjab, and heads the Shariah Advisory Committee of the State Bank of Pakistan, where he guides the nation’s transition toward an interest-free economy. Academically elite, he holds a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of the Punjab and a gold medal in Arabic. On the national stage, Dr. Naeemi is recognized for his active advocacy of child protection and minority rights, alongside his prominent, often debated public stances on contemporary religious matters, such as the Council’s decree regarding Shariah compliance in digital tool usage.
