First board meeting of Maritime Study Forum
Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) Islamabad hosted on 8 November 2018 the first board meeting of Maritime Study Forum (MSF), a national platform formed to bring together institutions, researchers, experts, policy makers, practitioners, professionals, business community and journalists interested to explore and promote the huge maritime potential of Pakistan.
The governing body of Maritime Study Forum elected senior jurist Dr Syed Mohammed Anwer as its president, Naufil Shahrukh, GM Operations, IPS as general secretary and Commodore (retd) Akmal Kiyani as Treasurer. Other members of the board include Executive President IPS Khalid Rahman, Syed Abu Ahmad Akif, former federal secretary climate change, Dr Azhar Ahmad, head of social sciences, Bahria University, Dr Aneel Salman, renowned economist, Salman Javed, strategic analyst & digital media expert, Aneela Shahzad, strategic analyst and writer.
It may be mentioned that on the request of the MSF board of governors, Member National Assembly Najeeb Haroon has accepted to be its chairman/patron. He is also the founder and chief executive of Principal – a leading engineering & construction firm of Pakistan. He is the highest tax paying politician of the country.
