‘SCO Forum on Governance and Leadership’

‘SCO Forum on Governance and Leadership’

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Chairman IPS Khalid Rahman was invited by China National Academy of Governance and the SCO Secretariat to participate online in the ‘SCO Forum on Governance and Leadership’, which was held with the theme of ‘SCO in Two Decades: National Development and Governance’, on July 27-28, 2021.

The forum was attended by government officials, experts and scholars from think tanks, research institutions and universities of SCO member states, observer states and dialogue partners.

Rahman presented a paper on the occasion titled ‘Regional cooperation, SCO and Global Governance’, maintaining that SCO should be regarded as the most significant regional cooperation organization of the world since it follows a partnership approach instead of forming alliances against others. He stressed that given its ability to play a good balancing role, an integrated and sustainable movement towards improving global governance should be one of its priority agendas in the coming years as this is critical for sustainable global development.
