Report Launch | ‘Assessment of Net-Metering Based Solar Systems Installed at IESCO & LESCO’

Synergy for renewable energy uptake urged in launch of study on solar system installations

Renewable energy experts and policy practitioners have urged all stakeholders – involving policy circles, regulatory authorities, public sector organizations, research organizations, academic institutions and the business community – to synergize their efforts to increase the share of renewable energy uptake in the country.

They were speaking at the launch of a research study titled ‘Assessment of Net-Metering Based Solar Systems Installed at IESCO & LESCO’, conducted by a team of researchers at the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) with the support of Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) and GIZ Pakistan.

The report launching ceremony, which was held on March 1, 2022, was chaired by Mirza Hamid Hasan, former federal secretary, Water and Power and chair, IPS’ steering committee on Energy, Water & Climate Change.

Shah Jahan Mirza, CEO, AEDB and MD, Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB), Ministry of Energy (Power Division), Chairman IPS Khalid Rahman, Ali Zain Banatwala, REEE Team Leader, GIZ, Faiz Muhammad Bhutta, Solar PV expert, Dr Hassan Abdullah Khalid, technical lead of the research project and Solar PV expert, and Asad Mehmood, director (Technical), National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) addressed the participants.

A presentation about the outcomes of the study was delivered on the occasion by Hamza Naeem and Lubna Riaz, researchers from IPS’ Energy, Water and Climate Change Program.
