IPS’ GM Ops attends Maritime Security Workshop-2018

IPS’ GM Operations Naufil Shahrukh, who is also the general secretary of recently launched Maritime Study Forum (MSF), was officially invited to participate in the second Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-2018), which was organized by Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore from December 12-20, 2018.

The workshop was attended by a select number of parliamentarians, policy makers, bureaucrats, business and industry leaders and representatives of academia, media and intelligentsia.

The primary objective of the workshop was to highlight the significance of maritime sector for Pakistan as well as to create its awareness in the country which was termed affected by ‘Sea Blindness’.

The participants of the workshop had an opportunity to attend lectures and take part in policy-making exercises and discussions on contemporary maritime issues, alongside visiting Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, the creeks near Indian border, and the coastal belt, which included Gwadar deep water port, Jinnah Naval Base, Ormara as well as other important maritime institutions like Karachi Port Trust, Naval Dockyard and Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works, etc.
