Faith Conversions in Pakistan: Evidence from Sindh

Report based on the preliminary analysis of the quantitative and qualitative data

Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), Islamabad is currently conducting a groundbreaking study on the issue of faith conversions in the Sindh province of Pakistan where conversion to Islam is frequently portrayed as forced. Several reports from various civil society organizations allege that around 1000 under-aged girls are abducted and forced to convert to Islam annually; most of them in Sindh and from Hindu families.

This IPS study – which is based on the preliminary analysis of the quantitative and qualitative data – investigates these serious allegations, taking into account the textual and contextual analysis of these alleged forced conversions.
