Academic excellence termed critical to progress in the contemporary world

IPS team comprising its GM Operations Naufil Shahrukh, Senior Research Fellow Syed Nadeem Farhat, and Research Officer Usama Hameed visited the Department of International Relations (IR) and the Department of Islamic Learning at the University of Karachi on May 18, 2023. The delegation was received by Dr Shaista Tabassum, dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr Naeem Ahmad, Dr Nausheen Wasi, and other faculty members from IR department, while Dr Arif Khan Saqi, chairman, Department of Islamic Learning, also welcomed the team to his department.

Speaking to the IR Department, the IPS team reiterated historical academic cooperation with the University. It emphasized the need to enhance this cooperation through collaborations and joint academic activities. While explaining the vision, mandate, mission, and work of the IPS in research and academic outreach, Shahrukh offered IPS support in several avenues. IPS and the Department of International Relations, University of Karachi, agreed to explore multiple collaboration and learning avenues through MoU signing.

Following that, Syed Nadeem Farhat delivered a brief talk to the students of undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels in a session in the Department of Islamic Learning. He enlightened the students that academic excellence is crucial to progress and success in the contemporary world. He also briefly mentioned some of the key areas in which students of Islamic Learning could go for deep academic research. After the session, the IPS delegation held an informal meeting with Dr Arif Khan Saqi and Dr Umair Mahmood Siddiqui, assistant professor at the Department of Islamic Learning.
