Dr Waleed Rasool, International Relations Expert
Dr. Waleed Rasool is a distinguished academic, multidisciplinary scholar, and peace practitioner specializing in positive peace, conflict resolution, and international relations. He has authored over 10 peer-reviewed research papers published in HEC-recognized national and international policy journals, and compiled the notable book “Kashmir: Regional and International Dimensions.”
A committed advocate for peace, Dr Rasool has represented the Kashmir issue on international forums, including the U. Congress, the UK House of Lords, and in countries such as Italy, Malaysia, Turkey, the UAE, and SAARC member states. He has been associated with the British Council as In-Charge of Peace and Conflict Studies at AJK University, served as Assistant Professor (Ad hoc) at IIUI, and worked as a Research Fellow at Riphah International University, Islamabad.
Dr Rasool has also collaborated with the Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization PUGWASH under Track-II diplomacy efforts and is a vocal contributor to public discourse as an accredited journalist, writing for leading Pakistani newspapers such as Pakistan Observer, Daily Nawa-i-Waqt, and The Nation. He frequently appears on public and private television channels to discuss national and international peace and policy matters.
His outstanding commitment to global harmony has earned him the “Ambassador for Peace” award by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), an ECOSOC-accredited UN body. He is also registered with the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
Academically, Dr. Rasool holds a BSc from Kashmir University, an MSc in Mass Communication, an MPhil from AIOU, and a Ph.D. in International Relations from IIUI, where he graduated top of his 2016 batch with a 4.0 CGPA, specializing in Positive Peace, Conflict Transformation, Foreign Policy Analysis, and Development Studies.
He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Institute of Dialogue and Diplomatic Studies.
