‘Role and importance of research institutions’ – An interactive session with the students of LUMS

Where the coherence and comprehensiveness of a research work is essential to make it relevant to the concurrent needs, the role of research institutions can also not be undermined in this regard as they can help forge an impact on policymaking corridors by reiterating the study’s outcomes through their network of knowledge workers, experts, practitioners and other stakeholders.

This, alongside other important aspects of research institutions were highlighted on June 9, 2022 during an interactive session held with the visiting students of LUMS (Lahore University of Management Sciences), who had taken an initiative to establish a new research centre within their university.

Emphasizing the role of research institutions for academic and policymaking arenas on the occasion, GM-IPS Naufil Shahrukh presented the example of IPS which facilitates the preparation of purposeful applied research through its engagements with research supervisors and student researchers, and then extends its recommendations to policymaking corridors through its connections with policy practitioners, field experts and other stakeholders in an attempt to fill the need and supply gap.

Chairman IPS Khalid Rahman appreciated the students on their initiative to establish a research institution within the University, and encouraged them to work on research topics that are relevant and beneficial for the society.
