IPS partakes in ‘Asian Civilization Dialogue Conference’ in Beijing

On the invitation of National Institute for Global Strategy (NIGS), Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS), Executive President IPS Khalid Rahman attended ‘Mutual Exchanges of Asian Civilizations and A Community of Shared Future for Mankind’, which is one of the six parallel forums of ‘Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAC)’ – a high-level event hosted by the Chinese government as part of ‘Asian Civilization Week’ held in Beijing, China, from May 15-22, 2019.
Rahman delivered a presentation on the occasion titled ‘Islamic Civilization: Virtues and its Role in Contemporary Scenario’. In his presentation, he shed light on different aspects of an Islamic civilization and talked about integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the Islamic approach.
The think-tank forum, which aimed at showcasing the charm of Asian civilizations and promoting mutual exchanges as a way of building a community of shared future, was attended by top-level Chinese and international experts representing academic, political and business spheres, including but not limited to the heads of several international organizations as well as some Nobel Prize winners.
At the end of the forum’s proceedings, EP-IPS signed a letter of intent to become part of an Institutional partnership comprising around 100 Asian think-tanks being established by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences with a view to promote exchanges and mutual learning among Asian civilizations.
