IPS inducts Aman Council into Next Gen Network, hosts session on Alternative Dispute Resolution

The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) formally inducted the Aman Council, a student-led initiative focused on amicable dispute resolution, into its Next Gen Network at an event held on August 27. The session also featured presentations by Aman Council members on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), providing an opportunity for academic engagement and discussion on the subject.

The Aman Council was formed by students of the Shaybani Law Society (SLS), Department of Shariah and Law, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, following an educational exposure visit to IPS on May 12, 2026. The students subsequently approached IPS with a proposal to organize a seminar on ADR, which was further developed through discussions between the Council and the Institute.

As part of the engagement, Aman Council members were tasked with mapping the field of ADR and presenting their findings before IPS. The presentations covered the concept and evolution of ADR, its origins and historical roots, its foundations in indigenous customs and traditions, its various forms and mechanisms, and the legal procedures and institutional framework governing ADR.

The respective event marked the formal induction of Aman Council into the IPS Next Gen Network, an initiative aimed at engaging emerging student-led groups and young individuals in meaningful intellectual and policy-oriented discourse. The induction is intended to provide an institutional framework for continued engagement and collaboration between IPS and the Council.

The program comprised an orientation on the IPS Next Gen Network, signing of the induction document and a group photograph, followed by the Aman Council’s presentations. The presentations were followed by a discussion, comments and a question-and-answer session, before the event concluded.

The engagement reflects IPS’s efforts to provide young people and student-led initiatives with platforms for research, intellectual exchange and constructive engagement on issues of legal and societal significance.
