Women in Leadership – Two-week Personal and Institutional Development Program

Women in Leadership – Personal and Institutional Development Program held at IPS adorned several aspiring female professionals, entrepreneurs, career starters, and students with essential soft and leadership skills through a series of extensive two-week long modules organized from October 5-16, 2015.

The workshop, which was organized by IPS LEAD – the learning, excellence and development program of IPS – and supported by WAMY – the World Assembly of Muslim Youth, was facilitated by renowned and exemplary names like Dr. Amt-ul-Rafi, chairperson, AIMS Education System, Razina Alam Khan, chairperson, NCHD, Dr. Ayesha Rauf, assistant professor, Shifa College of Medicine, Dr. Kauser Firdaus, director training program, Riphah International University, Shazia Haris, communication head, ERRA, Ameenah Sohail, lawyer and IPS associate, Samina Najeeb, sr. lecturer, Riphah International University, Amna Masood, entrepreneur and e-commerce practitioner, Yasir Masood, psychologist and motivational speaker, Nabeel Imtiaz, entrepreneur and trainer, Esha Bint e Islam, Youth Impact, soft skills trainers Saiyida Tasmeera and Rafia Tehseen, and DG-IPS Khalid Rahman.

Aimed at empowering the feminal resource pool of the country, the workshop imparted knowledge of social dynamics, applied psychology, self-efficacy, emotional intelligence, career planning for women, entrepreneurship and work-life balance to over one-hundred young women from across the twin cities apart from equipping them with the efficacious soft skills like leadership, management, networking, problem solving, decision making, time-management, communication and inter-personal skills.

The workshop concluded at the end of the second week with an exclusive panel discussion titled ‘Emerging Role of Women in the Changing World’. The panelists of the final day discussion, which included Shazia Haris, Ameena Sohail and Dr. Amt-ul-Rafi, shared invaluable experiences from their personal and professional lives, inspiring the workshop’s participants to become successful leaders and professionals while upholding ethics and values that are intrinsic to our religion, culture and society.
