On July 6, 2011 a roundtable meeting with the Vice Minister of Communist Party (CPC) of China Chen Jin was organized. Mr. Akram Zaki chaired the session. The vice minister informed the participants about the genesis, ideology and functioning of CPC and the role it has played for the development and progress of the country.
Mr. Chen Jin noted that the Communist Party of China was founded mainly on ideology of Mao Zedong and adapted itself with the changing circumstances and ground realities. He maintained that “The ideology of Mao Zedong is to search the solutions of problems according to ground realities and seek help from people to improve the life of common man, and never become dependent on others. Adding further, he said that “the ideology of Mao Zedong is leading element in life of every member of CPC.” He observed that the party drove its ideas and policies from the people's concentrated will and then turned that ‘will’ into state laws and decisions passed by the National People's Congress of China. He told that the party conducted its activities within the framework of the constitution of China and the law of the land and never transcended this framework. Explaining Chinese political system, he pointed out that eight other non-communist political parties besides CPC were also working independently in the country. “The qualification and commitment was the criteria set by the party and strictly practiced while assigning various responsibilities to the workers,” he further stated that due to committed workers, the party was successfully following its philosophy for decades and came up with solutions of the problems according to country's conditions and following the policy of self-reliance. Despite the tremendous contributions made by the party, he mentioned that malice of corruption and laziness seemed creeping in the ranks of the party and policies are being formulated to overcome these problems.
Akram Zaki, former Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and member IPS NAC, in his concluding remarks, appreciated the role of CPC for steering China on the path of progress and prosperity. While commending the policy of the party for having interaction with political parties of other countries including Pakistan, he commented that “Its interaction with Pakistani political parties will help improve understanding about each other and “political parties in Pakistan should learn lesson from CPC.” |
