Authored by renowned economist, senior IPS associate and former chief economist of the Planning Commission of Pakistan Fasih Uddin, the book ‘Mushahidat-e-Zindagi (Observations from Life)’ has been published by IPS Press – the publishing arm of Institute of Policy Studies, Islamabad.
The publication comprises two parts: i) Mushahidat-e-Dunya (Observations from the World), ii) Mushahidat-e-Dil (Observations by the Heart).
Mushahidat-e-Dunya is a collection of observation-driven articles and stories written on multifarious topics. These also include essays on four eminent personalities: i) Hakim Mohammad Said, ii) Lee Kuan Yew, the father of Singapore, iii) Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Shah, and iv) Akbar Adil, a teacher of the author. These pieces are then followed by two travelogues of Turkey and Delhi, and finally there are two articles based on the lectures delivered at IPS on the topics of ‘The Formation of National Economic Policy’ and ‘Personal and Institutional Development’.
The second part, which is titled ‘Mushahidat-e-Dil’, comprises compositions, sketches and stories written in a light-hearted manner.
