DG-IPS participates in China conferences

DG-IPS Khalid Rahman participated in China & Eurasia Forum organized in Urumqi, Xingiang on 12-13 September. 

DG-IPS Khalid Rahman participated in China & Eurasia Forum organized in Urumqi, Xingiang on 12-13 September. The conference was organized by Xingiang University and was attended by around 60 delegates from eight countries including Pakistan, Iran, India, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and China.

He presented his paper on “Post 2014 Afghanistan and Geopolitics of the Region” at the conference, which was well received by the audience and generated an interesting debate on the issue.

Earlier, during the last week of August DG-IPS also participated in the 3rd China-SAARC Forum in Shanghai jointly organized by China Institute of International Studies, Beijing, and Shanghai Institute of International Studies.

About 30 scholars participated in the meeting, including Chinese scholars from Beijing, Shanghai, Yunnan, and think-tank leaders) from SAARC member countries including India, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Afghanistan, Nepal and Maldives. The Conference carried out in-depth discussions on how to further people-to-people contact, how to facilitate the connectivity between China and SAARC, and how to deepen China-SAARC cooperation in the framework of guidelines at SAARC. DG-IPS gave a presentation on the occasion on the topic of “China and SAARC: Connectivity – Need for an Enabling Environment” at the academic event.

During the visit, President Xingiang Institute of International Affairs also hosted a dinner in the honour of DG-IPS in Urumqi on August 27, 2013
